It's been a minute but I'm back with another Ghostbusters mash-up!
This one came to me in the shower a few months back whilst listening to the original classic "Bustin' Loose" from the legendary Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers (which is a great wake up track btw). "Ghostbustin' Loose" tells the story of the boys in grey's first bust at the infamous Sedgewick Hotel.
"Ghostbustin' Loose", like all of my Ghostbusters remixes and mash-ups is competely free to stream and download right here on EctoCrank.com.

After months of fundraising (and a week delay) I finally took part in the St Helena Hospice 2018 Comic Hero Run, a 5K charity fun run that I completed... dressed as Slimer! It was hot, sweaty and hard to breathe but I finished in the top 10 (I came in 6th place) out of over 100 runners!
I had a great time taking part in this fun run and as difficult as it was to complete, it was well worth it to raise £300 for the hospice. On that note I just wanna say thank you to everyone who donated to this event and to all the Ghostheads and Ghostbusters Franchises that have helped me promote this event over the last 6 months.
Pretty sure I'll be running again in 2019, the only question is: where do I find a Stay Puft costume?
It's World Autism Awareness Week!
Our very own Dan Aykroyd has stated that his Asperger syndrome contributed to the inspiration for Ghostbusters because one of his symptoms included "my obsession with ghosts and law enforcement".
You can find out more about Autism and how you can lend your support via the National Autistic Society's website autism.org.uk
Today I added four new pages to my "Ghostbusters "Paranormal Activity Book" (bringing the total up to ten pags). The GBPAB is a free to download activity book filled with Ghostbusters themed puzzles, colouring sheets, word searches, etc. designed initially for franchises to give away at conventions but could easily be used by teachers for schools and clubs or you can just grab these for your kids as a rainy day activity.
The book is made up of original activities, designed by me and older stuff I've pulled and re-drawn from classic Ghostbusters kid's books such as the old 80s Marvel annuals. Consider them my gift to you; simply DOWNLOAD, print and enjoy.
After re-reading IDW's fantastic Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles/Ghostbusters crossover comic book series I became inspired to do a little crossing over of my own. For this one I knew I had to team Ray Parker Jr's immortal 'Ghostbusters' with the opening track from the 1990 Turtles move; John Du Prez and David Frank's cowabunga classic 'Turtle Rhapsody'.
Before I get into anything I've gotta say a huge thank you to Matthew Arndt for requesting this one. As a lifelong Michael Jackson fan I'm ashamed to say I that I never had the idea to combine these two tracks, so thanks dude!
For me, Thriller is without question one of the greatest songs of all time, so tackling this one was a real joy. Having said that, it was so hard to find ways to incorporate Ghostbusters into Thriller without changing the feel and the flow of it, so Thrillerbusters is definitely more Thriller with Ghostbusters sprinkled in than a straight up 50/50 mash-up.
Thrillerbusters will be available for free download from New Year’s Day right here on ectocrank.com
When it comes to Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, opinions are (shall we say) divided, but when it comes to Alex Goose & Tyler Demorest's "Ghostbusters 2016" featured in the trailer of ATC opinions are unanimous, it's awesome, it's badass and it maybe the best part of Ghostbusters in 2016.
Since day one fans have been clamouring for a full length/official release of this track and as yet those pleas have fallen on deaf ears (c'mon Sony, what you playing at!?). So, much like the Extreme Ghostbusters theme I've taken matters into my own hands, remixing a full four minute version of the track and I've thrown in a few classic Ghostbusters quotes and sounds for good measure. Props to Alex Goose & Tyler Demorest though, their natural talent and flawless work made this Ghosthead’s job that much easier. this was so much fun to put together, I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as i enjoyed making it.

Yesterday was my first day with the Essex Ghostbusters working the 2017 Paraforce convention. As the new guy I wasn't sure what to expect but you know what? From the moment they picked me up the busters in black had me feeling like I'd been one of team for years. They were so welcoming, so inclusive and at no point did I feel like the "new guy" so much love to 'em for that, I am now truly proud to call myself an Essex Ghostbuster.
We had a great day meeting some truly great people who all share our passion for the paranormal. We even got the opportunity to shoot some pics in an almost definitely haunted old barn. I think I can comfortably say that the Essex Ghostbusters will be front and centre for Paraforce 2018.
You can learn more about the Essex Ghostbusters via our official website and if you're in the Essex area and need to expertise of (somewhat) highly trained paranormal investigators and eliminators for your charity, event or occasion you know who to call!
I'm always looking for my next challenge (and my next excuse to dress up as a Ghostbusters character) so the St. Helena Hospice "Comic Hero Run" is perfect for me. As someone who suffers with asthma running is a really important part of my life, so it'll be nice that on that day my running will not only help my health but will go a small ways to helping someone else's aswell.
That is why, on Sunday March 18th, 2018 I'll be in Colchester Castle Park (dressed as everybody's favourite ugly little spud) standing toe to toe with a bunch of other superheroes, young and old as we run each 1, 5 and 10K respectively for this incredibly worthy cause.
"Whether you walk, run, fly or teleport, this event is a fantastic excuse for you, your family and friends to dress up and raise money in aid of St Helena Hospice. Every penny raised for this event will go towards supporting local people living with an incurable illness to live well and die with dignity and choice."
I have set myself a minimum fundraising goal of £150 and I need your help to achieve it! Even if it's just £1, anything you can spare to help my cause would be greatly appreciated (donations can be made below). The event is free to attend so if you're in the area it would be awesome to see you down there, showing your support Ghostbusters style!
Peace, Love & Who Ya Gonna Call?
After months of work and more money than I'd care to admit I stepped out of my house as a fully-fledged Ghostbuster for the first time today for Invasion Colchester, a really great (free!) movie and comic book convention set up by my childhood comic book store Ace Comics to raise money for St Helena Hospice and the Colchester Hopitals Charity.
I was flightsuited and booted with what felt like the heaviest pack in the whole entire world on my back (I now understand why Bill Murray didn't like wearing one) ready to bust some ghosts and feeling like I was 5 years old again! As the first rule of Ghostbusting is to "never bust solo" I spent the day with members of the UK Ghostbusters and a member of the Essex Ghostbusters, none of which I knew beforehand but all of which mafe me feel like I'd been doing this with them for years, so major shouts to them all.
I had a seriously great day which made all the work I put into my costume worth every single second. I'm now left counting down the days to December where I get to do it all again at For the Love of Sci-Fi in Manchester with Ernie Hudson, Ecto-1 and the great folks from the upcoming Ghostbusters documentary "Cleanin' Up The Town". If you ever thought about becoming a Ghostbuster then I've got just three words for ya: Answer the call!
Peace, Love and Who Ya Gonna Call?
